Script is done
So I have exactly each scene planned out
Work still left
A short film in its entirety, lasting approximately five minutes (major task), which may be live action or animated or a
combination of both, together with a website for the short film and a postcard advertisement for the film at a short film festival
(minor tasks).
Short Film
- Script - Done
- Editing - Starting Monday
- Sound - I've been searching through royalty free music such as Bensound, purple planet and more but what I think I'll do if I have time is work with my dad to play some creepy chords in a cool progression and I'll fiddle with it in GarageBand, adding reverb, and distortion and such.
Website
- This is a little harder and will take some time, I plan on starting it Wednesday and working at least half an hour everyday.
- I want the name of it in big letters right on the front; "Repeat" and links to this blog and production credits
Postcard
- AHHHHHHHHHH
- I guess the name and production credits.

Postcard And plans.
I have the design for the postcard all drawn out by hand. Tomorrow I'll do it all digitally and post it. What I need to focus on now is the website, finishing filming, and the music. As I go through filming I realized how different the vibe I want is from the music selection I've found, which is bad because I'm REALLY counting on the music to set the tone for my movie. I think I'll start editing Monday, with all my shots finished by Sunday. I'll update wth drafts and such.

final scene
So fit my final scenes I need to have myself kill a clone of myself and for that I need after effects, a software I've used before, but on a trial period. I'm thinking either I come up with some really clever editing or I might need to purchase a moth of After effects. On top of that the scene Asher will either be me floating in a tank. Or me waking up again, the latter of which I already have filmed. I've also busy realized I can be the main character and cameraman so I will enlist the help of of of my friends to either play the part or record.
I began to film today. I have my film script mainly decided on but there remain some sis i don't know how I'll film I recorded the first two shots completely and three middle scene ones. On top of that I've decided I need to begin my website asap. So I plan on dedicating all of tomorrow to the website layout. I think I'm finally on track with this project.
I've been watching lots of movies lately, and of thing I'm constantly paying attention to is hoe they create tension without dialogue. I've come to the conclusion that they use facial expressions, wick cuts and most importantly (In my opinion) music. Because of that I've carefully curated a list of possible background music, all royalty free of course, to maybe use in my film. The link is here

Research number two
I also watched Get Out and forgot to post my notes, but I did document them. This is what I found.
- The introduction of the movie implies a happy movie, following typical horror move tropes.
- We begin to feel uncomfortable as the movie delved into the topic of racism.
- We begin to see the level of comfort in the black boyfriend early on.
- The realization of what is happeneing in the movie comes slowly at first and then all at once like the tide slowly pulling you in and then kncocking you over with a huge wave. The point when I full realized what was going on was at the auction the moment the picture of him was shown.
- One thing I really liked was the parralelism in the escape scene when the father is SPOILER operating and the main character has just killed the son. The fact that we as the audience know what just happened and what each side doesn't know increased the suspense for me as well as those who I talked to about the movie.
- The parrallelism was very prominent in the movie when one compares the deer in headlights not only to the main character but also the story of his mom. It adds an element of togetherness to the movie. A motif that the audience can fall back on and think "Oh, I get that!"
SOME GUY DID MY MOVIE
So I was googling my film idea to see if anyone had written any short sotries similar to mine, so I could see how exactly I want to film it and what scenes and such are crucial to the development of the story and to MY SURPRISE Someone has already done it. You can find it here. So now I'm really struggling because this is literally my idea word for word and I don't want it to seem as if I'm ripping this guy off, but I am also really excited to produce this film and realize my idea, so right now I'm just trying to figure out how I want this to be made without being too similar to his film but also staying true to what I had in mind. I think what I will probably do is continue with my idea but reframe the genre, his is a sci -fi thriller and mine I think will be horror. I already know how I want to end, and I won't say it here but I also do knbow that I want the serial killer and victim to play a cat and mouse game. On top of this, the music was incredibly well chosen for the film and I feel like that's a huge part of why this guy's film, albeit infuriating because it's my idea was actuallly pleasant and quite entertaining.
Research number one
I watched Gone Girl (2014) today. I'd heard it was full of suspense and a movie that really made you sympathize with and simultaneously hate the main character. I think this was achieved through the acting, Amy played by Rosamund Pike, and Nick played by Ben Affleck, were incredibly ranged in their emotions. This coupled with the brilliant way the story was presented, with Nick blaming Amy and acting super innocent, and then Amy blaming Nick and acting all innocent, only to find out that SPOILER they're both horribile people, really makes the audience question what is real and what lies they are being fed. I liked how well thought out he character of Amy was. She had her whole backstory and reasons for her actions. And even though the audience would never approve of what she is doing, they completely understand why she is. The movie played with my sy,pathy for the characters by presenting information very slowly and misleadingly, I hope to do this with my short film.

Canada
This is currently the post for all the shots I will be filming in Canada, where I will spend my spring break and hope to film both the very first scene and very last scene of my film.
First, open on mountains
Last, ends on me waking up same as the first time but this time in a different bed and it is implied day starts over again.

Music
I've been having a really hard time deciding what music I'd like to be in my film. Yes I had already decided on PMJ's cover of Seven Nation Army but now I'd like something more upbeat that I can easily fade into something dark. I still don't know what but on the bright side I'm learning how to edit tracks together.
Update
So bad news, I haven't been feeling so hot since Wednesday and I've been at home (sleeping for the most part) getting better, the good news is I have decided where to film my movie and have an outline of some of the shots and transitions I'd like to have. It's all written in a notebook and I'll post the picture once I'm done.

Idea (so far)
So I was thinking of doing a movie about a time traveler. I have more ideas but I'm not the best at making them concise and understandable, so here's a bullet list.
- It's not so much about a man who travels through time as much as it a man who has a shadow? of himself following him.
- What I mean is maybe he'll go into the kitchen and hear a clang in the next room, he walks into that room all fearful and scared and accidentally bumps into a desk or something, this makes that same clang and then he hears someone in the kitchen coming to that room so he runs away. What we come to find is that it was him both times. I know I'm not explaining it that well but I hope in my film it'll make sense.
- As an objective viewer we would just be watching him go into the other room from the kitchen over and over and over again.
- A dog dies
- I'm gonna be honest, but one of the easiest ways to get a viewer hooked on your movie is to have a dog. I know this from experience and literally everyone talks about dog movies. Marley and Me (2008) made people cry, and cry and cry and cry. I'm hoping to evoke that same feeling in my audience with my movie.
- Black and White
- I'm thinking I could have part in color part, in B/W, with a scene of me talking out loud while driving my car like in a movie from the 50's. and the soundtrack in the back is Scott Bradlee's PostModern Jukebox's cover of the White Stripes Seven Nation Army.
- I want the main character to die, but to be killed by himself not knowing that he kills himself.
- I want him to have to kill someone and then later in the film, most likely the ending, before it cuts to black we realize that the man about to kill him is him. Maybe this is the point when the audience realizes what's going on. The issue with this is that I would have to keep the audience captivated until almost the very end. Maybe I could make it seem like he's running from someone, and then he kills the person he's been running from in self defense and doesn't realize it's him.
- OR OR OR OR OR I COULD HAVE HIM REALIZE THAT HE DID KILL HIMSELF AND SPEND THE REST OF THE FILM TRYING TO PREVENT IT, BUT BY DOING SO HE SEALS HIS FATE. WOW THIS IS GOING TO BE SOOOOO GOOD!!!!
Schedule
So last year I had some issues with time management and so a brilliant idea my teacher had was for us to make a schedule. I could use a schedule. I need a schedule. So here it is for the next week.
- Friday - Have three blog posts done.
- Intro
- Schedule
- Description of Idea
- Saturday - Begin research of genre and outline timeline for film, (what happens when in the film)
- Sunday - Busy
- Monday -Post genre research and film timeline
- Tuesday -Busy
- Wednesday -Busy
- Thursday -Begin Plot Twist research, Research into character development, Research into old time-y black/white cop/casablanca style movies
- Friday -Continue Research and post.
- Saturday -Have a weekly goal set out,
- Week I - This
- Week II -That
- Week III -This
I will try to work on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but I'm going to the beach on Sunday with my family and then I'm driving up north Tuesday night and spending Wednesday there. So maybe I will get some work done in the hotel? We'll see, but for the next 2-3 weeks I will focus solely on research and development of the timeline/idea
