Research number two

I also watched Get Out and forgot to post my notes, but I did document them. This is what I found.

  • The introduction of the movie implies a happy movie, following typical horror move tropes.
  • We begin to feel uncomfortable as the movie delved into the topic of racism.
  • We begin to see the level of comfort in the black boyfriend early on.
  • The realization of what is happeneing in the movie comes slowly at first and then all at once like the tide slowly pulling you in and then kncocking you over with a huge wave. The point when I full realized what was going on was at the auction the moment the picture of him was shown.
  • One thing I really liked was the parralelism in the escape scene when the father is SPOILER operating and the main character has just killed the son. The fact that we as the audience know what just happened and what each side doesn't know increased the suspense for me as well as those who I talked to about the movie.
  • The parrallelism was very prominent in the movie when one compares the deer in headlights not only to the main character but also the story of his mom. It adds an element of togetherness to the movie. A motif that the audience can fall back on and think "Oh, I get that!"
